History
Transit Workers Federal Credit Union, offers a full line of financial products to all its members in a professional, consistent and courtesy manner. Chartered in 1967, TWFCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, democratically owned and run by its members. The credit union is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the membership. The responsibility of the day-to-day operation of the credit union has been delegated by the Board to a Chief Executive Officer and the staff.

Transit Workers Federal Credit Union was chartered to serve employees of the Philadelphia Transportation Company – now know as SEPTA, employees of Transport Workers Union Local 234, retirees who retain membership in the credit union; employees of the credit union; members of their immediate families and organization of such persons.

Since it’s grass roots beginning of offering only share and loan accounts, TWFCU has grown to a multi-service financial institution offering all members a wide variety of services. And although we have grown and changed over the years, your credit union has remained focused on its core mission:
"…to promote thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity to accumulate their savings, and to create for them a source of credit for provident or productive purposes."
